Festival Dried Flower Wedding Colour Explosion

Natalie came to us with the idea that she wanted colourful wedding flowers that reminded her of wildflowers. She initially wanted a flower crown and little bridesmaids bouquets but after having to postone her wedding due to covid (she and the groom both caught covid the week before the wedding!), she saved her crown and bouquets and wanted to add on a more dramatic bridal bouquet and buttonholes for the guys.

The whole look really came together and the additional pieces really amplified the look.

Using a selection of dried grasses and flowers, including daisies, oats, wheat and dried yellow roses, the whole effect was really eclectic and the colour really natural but still vivid. We added in lots of ivory to match back to the bride and touches of hand dried gypsophila to give a more ethereal vibe.

Why did you choose dried flowers for your wedding?

I decided to go with dried flowers for a few reasons. Mostly, I was trying to make our wedding more sustainable and just couldn’t bear the thought of having to let lots of beautiful cut flowers just die! They also doubled up as gifts for my bridesmaids, which really helped as finances can get pretty tight when planning a wedding. And finally, I think they look beautiful!

Can you describe the look you went for?

I think I was quite vague on the look we were going for when I messaged Sarah about designing my flowers, but she absolutely nailed it anyway! We wanted our whole wedding to feel really relaxed, natural and just ‘us’. We got married at a local village hall, had a pizza van for our wedding breakfast...the whole day was very chilled and the flowers had to fit in with that.

I absolutely love British wildflowers (the blues, pinks and daisies) and so wanted that simple and natural look to come through, which it totally did.

What impact did your Horseshoe flowers have?

They absolutely made our day. I have always wanted to wear a flower crown for my wedding and it was everything I envisioned. I am not usually one for the limelight but one of my friends told me I looked like a ‘fairy queen’ and I felt so special. I didn’t want to take it off!

Where is your bouquet now?

My bouquet is currently in a vase in our bedroom and still looks gorgeous. My flower crown is currently hanging in my daughter’s room. We announced our pregnancy to our friends and family in our wedding speech so it feels fitting that a memento from that day is now in her nursery ready for when she arrives.

What advice would you give to brides thinking about a dried flower look?

Definitely go for it! They are just as stunning as fresh flowers but you get to enjoy them for much longer. It’s also something that is a bit more unique and a change up from the traditional wedding flowers you see.

We are thrilled with the way this wedding came together and so pleased that Covid didn’t mange to damper the day, it actually helped make it more amazing!

Natalie got in touch after the wedding to send us photos of her flower crown hanging in her soon-to-be-born-daugthers nursery, such a lovely way to use your flowers after the wedding!
