Working alongside other talented wedding creatives has really opened my eyes to the potential for each and every wedding. When I got married back in 2012 it never occurred to me to hire a stylist. But knowing what I know now, I would definitely invest in working alongside a stylist (if I were to ever get married again, ha ha!).

Read on for a little insight into why, in our opinion, it is worth finding room in your budget to bring in a professional stylist, and why it might cost less than you think when you factor in the rewards.

1. They bring a whole new style to the look and are always up to date with the latest trends

Sometimes you just need a little help to bring all your ideas together. Calling on a professional to bring a new perspective to everything inevitably turns your whole concepts up a notch. A talented stylist will suggest ideas to amplify your look, deepen your theme and add some unique touches to your special day.

2. You can rent or use their props taking your wedding up a notch

The right wedding stylist will have a huge selection of items that you can use to add that extra wow factor. They have vases, placemats, charger plates, glasses, candlesticks, candles, props, cake stands, napkins, table runners, tablecloths and more. Why spend hours sourcing all those things separately when you can work with one person who has it all?

Also, by the time you track down each and every different item, you will easily spend more money, and likely be end up with a load of leftover things after the wedding.

We might be a bit biased here but we love how using the right shade of tablecloth, candle or napkin really makes the colours in our flowers stand out. The right accompaniments really do make your flowers work so much harder for you, making each and every item truly stand out and look so much more impactful.

3. They work with the best suppliers and can recommend good ones to you

Wedding stylists tend to have a long list of suppliers that they enjoy and are used to working with. This gives you the opportunity of discovering some of the best suppliers in the industry without having to do all the research yourself, plus you know that they have already been vetted, win win!

4. Their experience means they will be able to suggest money saving tips

Wedding stylists are usually able to suggest ways to make the day look more impactful for less. They know what looks good because they’ve done it before and their experience means they can make something look high end on a lower end budget. They might suggest to utilise certain displays in multiple different ways or suggest different ideas that cost less and still have that wow factor.

5. They take a load of stress out of the day

Depending on the package you choose with them, they are usually able to be there for set up and take down, but there may be the option of having your stylist move things about for you on the day. Either way, having someone there to set things up beautifully, all whilst you are sitting back and sipping on champagne, is certainly the way to go!

To help you on your planning journey we have put together a list of wedding stylists that we have either worked directly with or admire their work from afar. Read on for a few of our favourites:
